A multidisciplinary workshop hosted by Imperial College London and The Royal College of Art, designed in collaboration with Rachel Hill (Artist), Fevziye Hasan (ecologist) and Laura Fava (writer).
The project was open to Year 5 and 6 pupils from the White City community, with the aim of connecting the children with the local wildlife in their area. Creative Roots tasked participants to scour Hammersmith Park for plants, insects, pond life and birds.
The children responded to their ecological discoveries by creating imaginative botanical illustrations of their own fantasy plants, insects and trees based on their discoveries in the park. The large scale group outcomes were showcased in an exhibition at the Royal College of Art, curated by the children themselves.
